\u00a0 \u00a0 The Department of Ancient History at\u00a0 Allahabad Degree College stands as one of\u00a0the oldest and most distinguished academic departments of the institution. Established in 1956, the very year the college was founded, the department has\u00a0grown in unitedly with the institution, shaping and enriching its academic landscape for nearly seven decades.\u00a0Throughout its illustrious history, the department has been home to several\u00a0renowned scholars and professors, including Professor R.N. Pandey, Professor\u00a0Abyakt Ram Mishra, Professor H. N. Dubey and Professor Ganga Sagar Tiwari.\u00a0Following their legacy, many notable professors have carried forward the torch of\u00a0academic excellence and mentorship, contributing significantly to the development of historical scholarship and inspiring generations of students.\u00a0<\/p>

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0The department currently offers both Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG)\u00a0programmes. The PG course, with a capacity of 62 seats, is among the most\u00a0competitive and popular courses in the college. The teaching faculty consists of eight (08) permanent Assistant Professors, all of whom are distinguished scholars\u00a0of reputed institutions like, University of Allahabad, Banaras Hindu University\u00a0(BHU), and Lucknow University. Their collective expertise spans diverse areas of\u00a0Ancient Indian history, including archaeology, art and architecture, religious\u00a0traditions, and political institutions.\u00a0What truly sets the department apart is its dedication to student mentoring,\u00a0academic excellence, and commitment to nation-building through education.\u00a0<\/p>

\u00a0 \u00a0 Over\u00a0the years, the department has produced numerous successful alumni, many of\u00a0whom have gone on to become bureaucrats, university professors, researchers, and\u00a0educators across India. Among all departments in the college, Ancient History consistently attracts the\u00a0highest number of students, owing to its broad academic exposure and high\u00a0relevance in competitive fields such as Civil Services and Teaching.
